Chief Sales Officer - Greater China
Context of the role
The Chief Sales Officer will lead Thunes’ commercial strategy and drive revenue growth across the region. This executive role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing sales and account management organization, expanding market presence, and strengthening key client relationships across the region.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in fintech, payments or financial services, with a proven track record of scaling sales functions, closing complex deals, and driving sustained revenue growth. As a key member of the leadership team, the CSO will report into the Chief Revenue Officer and work closely with regional leadership to develop and execute strategies that maximize market share, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
This is a highly strategic role for a dynamic sales leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and can navigate complex commercial landscapes to accelerate business success in China.
Key responsibilities
- Revenue Leadership: Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve aggressive revenue targets across the Greater China region.
- Strategic Market Expansion: To drive growth, identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and customer segments.
- Commercial Team Management: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing sales and account management team.
- Key Account Growth: Develop deep relationships with key clients, financial institutions, and strategic partners to drive long-term value.
- Go-to-Market Strategy: Align sales initiatives with product, marketing, and operational teams to optimize market penetration.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and track KPI’s to measure sales effectiveness and account retention, establishing a data-driven commercial approach amongst your teams
- Regulatory & Compliance Awareness: Stay ahead of regulatory developments in the regions fintech and payments landscape, ensuring commercial strategies align with compliance requirements.
What we are looking for
- 15+ years of sales leadership experience in fintech, payments, or financial services, with a strong track record in sales and revenue generation.
- Proven experience in scaling and leading sales and account management teams in the Greater China region.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem.
- Strong executive relationships with banks, financial institutions, merchants, and regulatory bodies in China.
- Strategic thinker with exceptional negotiation and deal-closing capabilities.
- Experience in developing and executing regional go-to-market strategies.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks in China’s financial sector.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
